Joni Shaw Smith, founder of Thirsty Cat (whose name came from her insatiably thirsty cat, Pepper Anne), has had an insatiable love for the art of film and video since she was a youngster who took over the family video camera and began creating family programming, such as PTV (a newscast that was shot using friends and family and edited together by the rigging of VCRs together).

This early love of creating videos led to a Bachelors in Radio Television Film from Texas Christian University, a coveted internship with The Young and the Restless, and a scholarship as a founding member of the Graduate Program of Media Arts at TCU where she earned her Masters Degree.

She has worked in various areas of video and film production, with her love being digital, photojournalistic photography. She has captured special moments such as brides preparing for their walk down the aisle, the first smile of a child, the craftmanship of handcrafted crown molding, the special touches of a pet hotel, and the joy of a dog splashing in a water fountain.
